Hurricane Harvey School Supplies Drive

Chandler Elementary School students partnered with Vidor ISD and their elementary schools who were badly damaged during the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Representatives from the Student Council sorted the supplies before it was delivered.

Red Ribbon Week

Student Council members created posters for Red Ribbon week to display around the campus showing we are a drug free school. Students from Chandler Elementary have the opportunity to be creative in showing their support of saying "NO!" to drugs with this year's theme of "Respect yourself; be drug free!" during the week of October 23-27.

SOCKtober Sock Drive

Student Council members hosted a sock drive during the month of October. Each class collected socks and the winning class in each grade received a popsicle party. Over the month, more than 700 pairs of socks were collected. Mrs. Collins and Ms. McClurg delivered these socks to Rahab's Retreat, a local ministry for women and children once in domestic situations.

Feathers for Food: A Fundraiser Benefiting Helping Hands of Kilgore Food Bank

Chandler Elementary School students, staff, and faculty joined the Student Council in raising awareness of poverty and feeding the local community during the first two weeks in November. Students from the second- and third-grade classes collected quarters in a turkey "feather drive". The drive's results were presented to Helping Hands Executive Director, Mrs. Ursula Plaisance.

Caroling of the Bells

During the month of December, StuCo representatives went caroling around town at local businesses and nursing homes spreading a little cheer. They also delivered cards they had made with a sweet note of encouragement to lift them up.
